Medical Officer

All of our call-out team members are trained in emergency first aid for the mountain environment, a requisite skill for maintaining their status as a full team member.  In addition, we have a cadre of 10 personnel who are trained as ‘Casualty Carers’.  Each of these members have undergone a rigorous supplementary training course to enhance their first aid skills and thereby our ability to provide casualties with the most appropriate life saving care. Our Medical Officer works closely with the Training Officer and the Equipment Officer to ensure that team member training is up to date and that our first aid supplies are the most up-to-date and appropriate to our needs.  He/she liaises with our First Aid Training providers as well as providing hands on training during our regular training exercises.    The team considers ourselves extremely fortunate to have a local GP on the call-out list as our team Doctor, as well as an experienced paramedic.
