Callouts and Incidents

Since the team formed in 1976 we have been involved in over 380 incidents. Most of these have been searching for missing persons, both in the Galloway Hills and on low lying areas, but have also included:

1. responding to medical emergencies
2. six aircraft crashes
3. assisting the Scottish Ambulance Service and HM Coastguard
4. helping stranded motorists during severe snow storms
5. aiding police searches urban and rural
6. recovering crag fast casualties
7. mountain bike accidents

Statistics

To date, we have provided a total of 625 voluntary hours search and rescue activity, excluding training and event support, during 2009.
