 Off Road Driving

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java(tm). The Team recognises that Off Road Driver Training is essential to ensure that team members can be deployed in the team Land Rover safely. First response drivers have recently undergone training at Wigtown Off Road Driving Centre, Wigtown.

The team were impressed with the facilities, particularly the off road course, provided by Drew Paton and his staff. The two mile off road course was considered comparable to the type of terrain which our team drivers are required to negotiate in the Galloway Hills.

The One Day course has now been undertaken by 8 of the team drivers, and each of them have commented favourably about the learning experience. Being able to take the team Land Rover to safe limits in a controlled manner is an effective and essential outcome, and we firmly believe this has been achieved.

The photographs show just a few of the natural obstacles which drivers must negotiate on the course. Driving however is only part of the learning outcome. Theory and safe limits are also discussed in detail.
