MISSING GIRVAN WOMAN TRACED NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR???
About 0645hrs on Thursday 15th April, 2004, Galloway Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist Stranraer Police to search for a missing Girvan woman who had been missing since Monday 12th April.

Team personnel, assisted by two search dogs from SARDA (Southern Scotland), were deployed on Brockloch Fell north east of Cairnryan following a sighting by a member of the public. At about 1030hrs, the missing 33 year old, was traced by one of the search teams just west of 'Lake Superior'. She was found to be safe and well.

It is perhaps worthy of comment that Galloway MRT haven't extended their search area to include Canada!!! Lake Superior is one of two 'Lakes' in Scotland and it is located on the hillside north east of Cairnryan village.

In recent years, Galloway MRT have been regularly deployed in the western area of Galloway particularly to search along coastal areas and this latest incident perhaps indicates this trend may continue.

In total, 65 voluntary man hours were committed to the search. More information about the work carried out by Galloway MRT and opportunities for sponsorship can be found online at http://www.gallowaymrt.org.uk
