Book
Auction - January 2003
On
25th January 2003, a Book Auction was held in Newton
Stewart to support Team funds. Many of the books
were from the personal library of Andrew McCormick,
well known Gallovidian author, who lived in Gatehouse
of Fleet. Included in the books, very generously
donated by Mr McCormick's daughter, Margaret, were
an advanced copy and first edition copies of his
book on the Galloway Gypsies and Tinklers.
Many other books were kindly
donated by local people and the books were catalogued
and listed by auctioneer Mary Plunkett and her family
helpers who gave freely of their time.
The auction was well supported
and over £2300 was raised for team funds.
A big thank you to everyone
who helped in any way to make this such a successful
fund raising event.
