Since 1976 the Team been involved in over 375 incidents. Most of these have been searching for missing persons but have also included:

  • responding to medical emergencies
  • six aircraft crashes
  • helping stranded motorists during severe snow storms
  • aiding police searches urban and rural
  • recovering crag fast casualties
  • assisting the Scottish Ambulance Service

Most Recent Incidents
We have provided a total of 100 voluntary hours search and rescue activity, excluding training and event support, during 2008.

[4] Saturday 19th April 2008
About 1350hrs the team were called by the Ambulance Service to evacuate an injured mountain bike rider from the 7 Stanes MTB Route at Kirroughtree. Six personnel attended from Newton Stewart and evacuated the 50 year old female who had a back injury. She was removed to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

[3] Sunday 13th April 2008
About 1900hrs the team were called to search for a missing 9 year old boy who had gone missing from his home at Ringford, west of Castle Douglas. The missing boy was found safe and well in a wood not far from his home.

[2] Friday 28th March 2008
About 1330hrs the team were called to search for a man who's car had been found nearto the Bennan viewpoint near New Galloway. He was later traced safe and well.

The team were called to assist the police to search around Castle Douglas for a missing man. He was traced by the police.
